We highlighted several changes to the immigration system that are needed to protect and respect the rights of people living with HIV \u2014 including revoking the \u201cexcessive demand\u201d regime, which prevents people from migrating to Canada if the government believes their health condition may pose a financial burden on Canada\u2019s public healthcare services.<\/p>\n

We will continue to put pressure on the Canadian government to respect and protect the rights of migrants living with HIV. <\/strong>Without these changes, Canada\u2019s immigration system will continue to perpetuate harms against people living with HIV and prevent Canada from living up to its reputation as a rights-respecting country.<\/p>\n
