Practices include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing services to all members of the community who identify as women, regardless of gender identity;<\/li>\n<li>Offering support to 2SLGBTQ+ community members through shelter, outreach, phone, and text-based services;<\/li>\n<li>Providing professional interpretation services in a participant\u2019s preferred language;<\/li>\n<li>Connecting French-speaking participants with French-language supports and services;<\/li>\n<li>Offering physically accessible facilities, including an elevator, barrier-free entrances, and barrier-free showers; and<\/li>\n<li>Offering Child and Youth Intervention Advocate services for children and youth ages 4\u201319 staying inshelter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-box su-box-style-default\" id=\"\" style=\"border-color:#779404;border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-box-title\" style=\"background-color:#aac737;color:#FFFFFF;border-top-left-radius:1px;border-top-right-radius:1px\">Program Spotlight: Child and Youth Intervention Advocates<\/div><div class=\"su-box-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"border-bottom-left-radius:1px;border-bottom-right-radius:1px\">\n<p>Birchway Niagara provides specialized support for children and youth who have been exposed to family violence through its Child and Youth Intervention Advocate program. Available to children and youth aged 4 to 19 years old staying at the shelter, the program supports participants and their caregivers in areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safety planning;<\/li>\n<li>Healthy relationships;<\/li>\n<li>Bullying prevention;<\/li>\n<li>Self-esteem;<\/li>\n<li>Anger management;<\/li>\n<li>Divorce and separation; and<\/li>\n<li>Understanding family violence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program also supports parents seeking to help children process experiences of abuse and violence.
