We\u2019ll update the document with their responses if\/when we do.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #2090cf;\">ELECTION FOCUS: HARM REDUCTION<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>We\u2019re facing a crisis.<\/b> And our response will determine life or death for some of our friends, family, colleagues and community members.<\/p>\n<p>The overdose crisis, fueled by a contaminated drug supply, is killing at an alarming rate.\u00a0 In the past four years, more than 11,500 people have died. And there\u2019s no end in sight.<\/p>\n<p>But with the election of a new federal government in October, we have a chance to make a difference. If our <b>political party leaders<\/b> are serious about saving lives and curbing the overdose crisis, they <b>should immediately commit to supporting harm reduction services<\/b> \u2014 especially supervised consumption and overdose prevention sites.<\/p>\n<p>These services provide places where people can use drugs safely under the supervision of trained staff and volunteers. They are proven to save lives. They help prevent infections such as HIV and hepatitis C. They give people a safe space. They connect people to treatment and other supports. They are essential and urgently needed.<\/p>\n<h2>GET INVOLVED<\/h2>\n<p><strong>We have two actions to help you get involved and add your voice to this campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/aidslaw.nationbuilder.com\/scs_petition2019\"><i>Sign our petition!<\/i><\/a> <\/strong>We\u2019re demanding a commitment from all political party leaders to support supervised consumption and overdose prevention sites.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hivlegalnetwork.ca\/site\/drugs-and-harm-reduction\/?lang=en\"><strong><i><u>Get in touch with the candidates in your riding and let them know that you support harm reduction efforts in your community!<\/u><\/i><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 We\u2019ve launched a resource to help you learn how to speak with your candidates (i.e. your future MP). Your voice matters to them. You can help get this important issue on their agenda.
