Their mission was to support and protect the human rights of people living with and affected by HIV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thanks to the support of thousands of people over the past three decades, we have been able to provide legal expertise and sustained advocacy for communities around the world that are disproportionately affected by HIV, punitive laws and policies, and criminalization.<\/strong>\u00a0Our work continues, and last week we told you about our bold plans for the next five years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your support has a major impact. A series of breakthroughs in recent years have given us real hope<\/strong>\u00a0that the human rights and dignity of all people can and will be respected, protected, and fulfilled around the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Rights Within Reach cover art \" src=\"https:\/\/assets.nationbuilder.com\/aidslaw\/mailings\/2924\/attachments\/original\/Untitled_%28600_%C3%97_300_px%29_%281%29.jpg?1666876473\" alt=\"Rights Are Within Reach art\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Rights\u00a0<em>ARE\u00a0<\/em>Within Reach!<\/h2>\n<p>The human rights for which we have fought alongside so many committed people are finally within reach:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thirty years of hard work<\/strong>, intensifying after the\u00a0<em>Mabior<\/em>\u00a0decision in 2012,\u00a0<strong>has resulted in the Government of Canada opening consultations last week<\/strong>\u00a0on how best to reform the misguided law on HIV non-disclosure, that has harmed people living with HIV in Canada for too long.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recent decisions<\/strong>\u00a0in Antigua and Barbuda, and in St. Kitts and Nevis,\u00a0<strong>have declared colonial laws in those countries criminalizing same-sex relationships unconstitutional.
