GOVERNMENT OF CANADA CONSULTATION ON HIV CRIMINALIZATION

On October 20, 2022, the Government of Canada announced the start of their consultation on HIV criminalization, as Canada finally looks to reform the misguided and harmful law on HIV non-disclosure in this country. The Canadian Coalition to Reform HIV Criminalization (CCRHC), welcomes this consultation – a first step, we hope, to concrete action on law reform. The consultation closed on January 13, 2023.

We thank everyone who participated in the government consultation. Crucially, you told policymakers why and what changes to Canada’s discriminatory and unscientific laws are necessary to end the injustice against people living with HIV in this country.

Please watch this space for updates on this critical advocacy work in the coming months.

The CCRHC has also provided helpful backgrounders on the consultation .
