Overcoming our Addiction to Repression

In this video, the Honourable Louise Arbour condemns the devastating “war on drugs” and calls for a human rights-based approach to drug policy. Mme Arbour was formerly the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada; she now serves as a Commissioner with the Global Commission on Drug Policy. Her address was delivered on June 18, 2015, at “Charting the Future of Drug Policy in Canada,” a colloquium hosted by the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition, and the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy.
