This submission describes key national human rights priorities and provides recommendations for the Government of Malawi to better respect, protect and fulfill human rights, consistent with its international legal obligations, in areas of particular relevance to an effective response to HIV. These priorities are: 1) women’s rights in relation to marital property and 2) the rights of people living with, and at risk, of HIV as reflected in Malawi’s HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) Bill.
