Open Letter to the Government of the Dominican Republic Regarding the Bill to Establish “Zones of Tolerance” for Sex Workers

“The undersigned, supporters and representatives of sex workers and organizations and individuals advocating for human rights, are deeply concerned with [the Bill]. While we understand the Government’s concern for the health and well-being of its citizens, the bill violates a range of human rights which will contribute to a climate of intolerance that will only heighten the risk of further violations, including stigma, discrimination and violence, against sex workers.”
